Edmonton robbery suspect arrested near Bonnyville

Alberta RCMP Traffic Units arrested a suspect in an Edmonton robbery after catching them allegedly driving a stolen vehicle.

On January 26, officers were conducting a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 41 and Highway 657 near Kehewin First Nations.

Just before 10 p.m, a vehicle that police determined to be stolen entered the check stop, which led to police arresting the occupants.

As a result, 31-year-old Darius Brertton was charged with the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
  • Possession of a controlled substance: methamphetamine;
  • Identity fraud;
  • Disobeying an order of the court; and
  • Obstructing a peace officer (x2).

Brertton is also a suspect in a robbery that happened in Edmonton earlier this month. He will be appearing in a St. Paul court on February 1.

Police are still looking for the other suspect in the Edmonton robbery. Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity are asked to contact EPS at 780-423-4567.
