Edmonton Police Service has arrested a man and a woman, each accused of first-degree murder in the August 2023 shooting death of 33-year-old Travis Cardinal.
Police say that while responding to multiple reports of shots fired on Friday, August 11, 2023, officers discovered Cardinal, in life threatening condition, having sustained gunshot wounds, near 85 Street and 119 Avenue in the Eastwood Park area.
Paramedics treated and transported Cardinal to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, Police say. Edmonton’s medical examiner conducted an autopsy days later, which revealed the cause of death was gunshot wounds, and the manner of death was ruled homicide.
The accused are identified as 36-year-old Paul Everette Lawrence and 30-year-old Talsa Ashlee Cardinal. They were charged Wednesday, January 31.
In an email to Heartland News, an EPS spokesperson specifies that, “Travis and Talsa were not related, but they were known to each other.”
