Edmonton police have identified the victim in a house fire that happened on Tuesday morning.
On February 13 just after 2 a.m., police assisted firefighters after a dead body was spotted in the basement of the home near 121 Avenue and 37 Street.
An autopsy conducted on Wednesday identified the victim as 35-year-old Renee Larocque, with the manner of death being homicide through smoke inhalation.
Police have arrested 37-year-old Jordan Auger and charged him with manslaughter, arson to property showing disregard for human life and breach of conditions of release order.
