St. Albert has announced that the updated Municipal Naming Policy is now in effect.
This means that residents can once again suggest names for new municipal infrastructure, including streets, parks, buildings, and more.
New submissions will be considered for the next annual update of the list, with the city mentioning that adding a name to the list does not guarantee that the name will be used.
At the start of this year, the City of St. Albert also made it to residents could submit requests to have names removed if the name includes derogatory terms or refers to people with discriminatory views.
The Municipal Naming Policy began in 2014 as a way to honour the noteworthy people and organizations associated with the city. If you’re interested in suggesting a name or requesting for removal, you can do so by visiting the City of St. Albert website here.
