Local law enforcement joined Special Olympic athletes in a torch run that made its way through the Edmonton area on Monday (Feb. 26).
Throughout the day the torch stopped at Bellerose Composite High School, St. Oscar Romero Catholic High School, Edmonton Police Headquarters, and Edmonton City Hall.
Law enforcement officers from across Canada have been carrying the torch across the country since February 23. They’re stopping at 12 communities across Alberta before the torch run ends on Tuesday in Calgary when the Special Olympics National Winter Games begin.
The games run from February 27 to March 2, with the torch run being hosted to raise awareness and support for the games.
