Edmonton extends extreme cold weather response

The City of Edmonton is extending its Extreme Cold Weather Response that was put into place earlier this week.

The extension comes as daily lows are expected to reach -20 C throughout the weekend and into next week. The response was put in place on February 25 and was originally expected to end on Friday (Mar. 1).

During this time Edmonton Transit Service will continue to run its extreme weather bus routes, which help passengers access emergency shelters overnight.

There will also be recreation centres and libraries open during operating hours to give vulnerable Edmontonians a way to keep out of the cold.

The extreme cold weather response is now expected to end on March 8.
