Water main break closes down 101 Street in Fort Saskatchewan

A section of 101 street has been closed to traffic as crews are on the scene working to repair a water main break.

The break was between 98 and 99 Avenue, with the City of Fort Saskatchewan asking residents to adjust their travel plans in a Facebook post made on Monday morning.

“It’s important to note that this water line is scheduled for replacement in 2025, as we are aware it has been causing ongoing issues,” wrote the city in the post. “We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to repair the lines.”

There was another break at 101 St water main on February 22, with other water main breaks in January 2023, and back in fall 2022.

“The full upgrade scheduled for 2025 involves extensivew work and requires a significant mobilization of resources and crews. It’s a comprehensive project aimed at enhancing the system’s long-term reliability,” wrote the city in response to a concerned citizen asking why the replacement is scheduled for the following year.

An update will be provided once the street is open to traffic again.
