A suspect in a recent sexual assault has turned himself in, according to the Edmonton Police Service (EPS).

The 20-year-old is a suspect in relation to reports of a 13-year-old girl being sexually assaulted in a family change room stall at the Terwillegar Recreation Centre on Tuesday.

The suspect turned himself in on Thursday morning, with police not releasing the name of the suspect until formal charges have been laid.

In the meantime, detectives with EPS’ Child Protection Section are providing support for the young girl and her family.
