St. Albert closes outdoor rinks

The City of St. Albert has closed all of their outdoor rinks for the rest of the season.

The closure was announced on Monday due to warm weather causing unsafe conditions on the ice. The day that the closure was put in effect there was a recorded daytime high of 6 C.

The rinks had only been open for around three months, with the rinks first opening in the middle of December. This was also due to a warm start to winter.

However, there are still indoor rinks to skate at, with the Kinex Arena even hosting a free public skate on Sunday.
