St. Albert football coach awarded Coach of The Year

Congratulations to Bellerose Comp’s Jason Lafferty for winning the Tier II Coach of the Year award from Alberta Football.

The award ceremony was on Saturday, with Lafferty coaching for over 20 years now all across Alberta. Back in 2004, he won his first coaching award from Alberta Football for helping bring his Peace River team to the provincial finals.

This year Lafferty helped both the junior and senior Bellerose Bulldogs win regionals, with the senior Bulldogs ending the season 10-1. Lafferty said the Bulldog’s successful year was a collaboration from players, parents, and coaches alike.

Now Lafferty is taking a secondment leave to support Ever Active Schools, with new teacher Zach Wilkie taking over as head coach in April. Wilkie has a history as a player with the Edmonton Huskies, the UofA Golden Bears, and as an assistant coach with the Bulldogs.
