Strathcona County is looking to purchase art from local creators through its annual art acquisition program.
This program, called Strathcona Contemporary, serves to showcase the work of local artists through five social events and an art exhibit.
“Art is vital to a community. It expresses our essence, connects us and shapes who we are,” said Kris Miller, acting manager, Cultural Services with Strathcona County. “Strathcona Contemporary is an excellent opportunity for visitors and artists alike to immerse themselves in a diverse array of artistic expressions, sparking inspiration and fostering a collective spirit of creativity within the County.”
Submissions are open on the Strathcona County website until April 15, with the exhibition being held at Gallery@501 from April 26 to June 22.
There are also several events going between May and June, from an artists’ meet and greet on May 4, to an adult artist workshop on May 25.
This annual program is supported by the Art Collection Advisory Committee and welcomes all creators and community members alike. You can learn more about the program on the Strathcona County website.
