Strathcona County is inviting its residents to “pitch-in” with waste removal from late April to early March.
This annual Pitch-In campaign involved volunteers removing litter that’s left behind from the spring thaw, with 2023 bringing in over 1,500 volunteers. With that many volunteers, the campaign brought in well over a thousand hours of total work.
“I believe that the small act of picking up litter can make a huge difference,” said Linda Poignant, a Pitch-In volunteer and Strathcona County resident. “Keeping Strathcona County clean is a shared responsibility.”
Residents can clean up waste from either around the county, or even in their own neighbourhoods. Participants can use their own garbage bags or pick up bags provided by the county.
Pitch-In bags are available at the Recreation, Parks and Culture administration office during normal business hours, with residents being encouraged to take photos of their work and share it on the Strathcona County website.
