One dead after car crash near Morinville

A woman is dead following a car crash that happened near Morinville last week.

The crash was on Thursday night on Highway 642 between Range Road 271 and 272. When officers arrived, they determined that the crash was between a pedestrian and a vehicle.

Emergency crews took lifesaving measures on the pedestrian, but they had died at the scene. The pedestrian was identified as a 31-year-old woman from Alexander First Nation.

The people inside of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian were not injured as they remained on scene for officers to arrive.

Police were on the scene for several hours as they investigated the cause of the cause. Several hours after the accident, police had cleared the scene and opened the road back up to the public.

Morinville RCMP continue to investigate but have determined that impairment was not a factor in the crash.
