Fort Air Partnership announced new name

The Fort Air Partnership has announced that they’ll be going by a new name.

The air monitoring organization will now be calling itself the Heartland Air Monitoring Partnership (HAMP).

According to the organization, this name was chosen to better represent the range of communities served by the airshed. Right now they monitor not only Fort Saskatchewan, but Bon Accord, Bruderheim, Elk Island National Park, Gibbons, Josephburg, Lamont, Newbrook, Redwater, Thorhild, and Waskatenau.

“Our primary role is to monitor and report on air quality where people live, making this information available to all residents and stakeholders within our borders in an open and transparent way,” said Nadine Blaney, HAMP’s executive director. “We’re here for anyone who wants to know what the air quality is like. Over time we hope our new name and brand will help communicate these values as clearly as possible.”

The announcement was made on Monday, with the name coming into effect on Tuesday.

This name change also came with a new website.
