Strathcona County’s emergency response is growing thanks to the mobile incident command post donated by Shell Scotford on June 24. A mobile incident command post is where tactical planning during a large emergency response is coordinated. This command post will replace the County’s current vehicle.
The donated unit provides a modern on-scene location for incident command staff to coordinate activities. The command post is technologically advanced, will enable a more coordinated incident response and enhanced communications to the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in County Hall.
“This generous donation from Shell Scotford strengthens how we all work together to keep our community safe,” says Mayor Rod Frank. “We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Shell Scotford and look forward to continued collaboration with our regional industry and businesses.”
Information gathered during a major incident is critical. The faster information is shared with the EOC, the more effective Strathcona County’s incident response can be. Once the new unit is equipped with County technology, it will support the on-scene Incident Commander with enhanced situational awareness and when required, link back to the EOC with information that is critical to the ongoing support of the response and for the continuity of service delivery to the rest of County.
