Environment Canada has issued heat warnings for nearly all of Alberta, with the exception of the Jasper area, citing potentially hazardous conditions. The high temperatures have strained generator capabilities, prompting the Alberta Electric System Operator to issue a grid alert.
Residents are advised to limit non-essential use of lights and appliances and to reduce air conditioning usage, especially during peak hours from 4 PM to 7 PM, in efforts to stabilize the electricity grid.
Temperatures are set to moderate for most of Alberta on Friday .
