Fatal Motorcycle Crash on QE II Claims Life

Tragedy struck the QE II Highway on August 7, when a high-speed motorcycle collision resulted in the death of a 34-year-old Leduc man. The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 pm on the northbound stretch of the highway near the off ramp leading to 41 Avenue in Edmonton.

According to initial reports from the Leduc RCMP, the motorcycle was traveling at an excessive speed when it exited the 41 Avenue off ramp. The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, lost control of the bike and crashed into the guard rail. Despite the swift response by emergency services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RCMP Collision Reconstructionist is currently assisting with the investigation, and authorities are working to determine the precise factors leading up to the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that the high speed of the motorcycle was a significant factor in the crash.

The RCMP is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward as they continue their investigation. The highway was briefly closed to allow for the investigation and to clear the scene, but it has since reopened.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of excessive speed and the importance of road safety. Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
