Two cyclists traveling coast to coast to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s disease research had their custom bikes stolen in Edmonton on Monday night.
The Spinning Wheels Relay team reported that the bikes, specifically designed to aid with Parkinson’s symptoms, were taken off their vehicle during the Edmonton leg of their 60-day journey across Canada. The stolen bikes were custom-made, and their unique specifications are costly and hard to replace.
Despite the setback, Jim Redmond, co-chair of the Spinning Wheels team, assured that the trip will continue once replacement bikes are found. The team’s campaign remains on hold until then.
