Elks introduce their new owner, Larry Thompson

Following recent reports of new ownership, the Edmonton Elks officially introduced Larry Thompson as their new owner today. Thompson, the former co-owner of Thompson Brothers Construction, expressed his deep-rooted passion for the team, which he has supported since attending games as a 12-year-old in 1972.

When asked about his first priorities, Thompson stated that his immediate focus would be on increasing the team’s success on the field. “We need to bring back some more wins,” he said, adding his commitment to ensuring the club has the resources needed to excel in the CFL.

Thompson, who sold his construction business in 2023, now takes the helm of the Elks. With this change in ownership, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers remain the only community-owned teams in the CFL.

The Elks’ next game is scheduled for this Saturday against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Their following home game will be on September 7th, where they will face the Calgary Stampeders.
