Former Elks GM/head coach Chris Jones hired by Hamilton Tiger Cats

Chris Jones, the former general manager and head coach of the Edmonton Elks, has been appointed as the new Senior Defensive Assistant for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Jones steps into the role following the firing of Defensive Coordinator Mark Washington on Sunday.

The Tiger-Cats are currently struggling with a 2-8 record this season and have the worst defense and record in the league. Jones’ appointment comes as Hamilton seeks to bolster its defensive unit amid a challenging season.

Jones previously served as Edmonton’s head coach, with his second stint proving difficult. After being rehired for the 2022 season, he led the Elks to a dismal 8-33 record. The team’s performance under Jones was notably poor, starting the current season with a 0-5 record before Interim Head Coach Jarious Jackson took over.

Since Jackson’s promotion and the changes they made to their lineup, the Elks have shown quite a bit of improvement, with a 3-2 record.
