Oilers Decline to Match Offer Sheets for Broberg and Holloway

The Oilers announced this morning that they will not match the offer sheets presented by the St. Louis Blues to forward Dylan Holloway and defenseman Philip Broberg.

As per NHL guidelines, Edmonton will receive the Blues’ second and third-round picks in the 2025 NHL Draft as compensation for the two restricted free agents.

In a separate deal with St. Louis, the Oilers acquired the rights to unsigned 2023 draft pick Paul Fischer, a 6’1″ defenseman, along with a third-round selection in the 2028 NHL Draft in exchange for future considerations.

These moves reflect Edmonton’s strategy to build for the future while navigating the constraints of the NHL’s salary cap. The Oilers now turn their attention to utilizing their newly acquired draft capital to strengthen their roster in the coming seasons.
