Teenagers in Edmonton arrested for speeding, hit and run and assaulting police

A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man have been arrested following a brief chase and collision, Edmonton police say.

At 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, police conducted a traffic stop on an Acura in northeast Edmonton. The vehicle fled the scene, nearly dragging one officer and striking another as it sped away. The Acura later collided with another car, occupied by three people, at the intersection of 17 Street and 37A Avenue.

Officers recovered a gun from the Acura. The teenagers face multiple charges, including dangerous driving causing bodily harm, fleeing from police, two counts of assaulting a peace officer, hit-and-run causing bodily harm, and various firearms offences.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
