Sherwood Park-Fort Saskatchewan MP Garnet Genuis sparked controversy in the House of Commons today after allegedly making a homophobic comment during Question Period. While Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was responding to a query from the opposition, Genuis reportedly made an off-mic comment suggesting that Trudeau and Canadian Consul General Tom Clark “engaged each other in the bathtub.”
The comment led to an immediate response from Trudeau. House Speaker Greg Fergus called for order and requested the Prime Minister withdraw his remark, but Trudeau declared that he was “standing up to bullies.”
Genuis has yet to comment as of the time of writing.
Conservative MP @GarnettGenuis was the one who yelled a homophobic comment to Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau today.
