Oilers sign Travis Dermott to a one-year, two-way contract

The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Travis Dermott to a one-year, two-way contract valued at $775,000 at the NHL level. Dermott joined the Oilers on a professional tryout agreement in September and recorded one goal and two points in five preseason games.

The 26-year-old defenceman is coming off an $800,000 contract with the Arizona Coyotes. Drafted 34th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2015, Dermott has tallied 16 goals and 62 points in 329 career NHL games, playing for the Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and Coyotes.

The Oilers are hoping Dermott will bolster their lineup as they aim for a deeper Stanley Cup run this season. The team is set to host the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday at 8 PM.
