Man charged after striking and killing 68-year-old in Edmonton

Edmonton police have charged a 25-year-old man after a tragic incident on Friday in which he struck a 68-year-old man on an electric dirt bike and then fled the scene.

The victim was found injured on the Dudley B. Menzies Bridge, which is adjacent to the High Level Bridge. He was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy conducted yesterday confirmed that the victim died from blunt force injuries, and his death was ruled accidental.

Police reported that the driver of the electric dirt bike left the area without calling for help or medical assistance. Authorities arrested him on Sunday and charged him with dangerous driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death, and failing to stop after an accident resulting in death.
