Fort Saskatchewan RCMP issue Halloween safety tips for Trick-or-Treaters

Fort Saskatchewan, AB, October 31, 2024 – As Halloween approaches, the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP is encouraging families to prioritize safety during trick-or-treating to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

The RCMP suggests the following safety tips:

  • Inspect Candy: Check your child’s candy for signs of tampering or unwrapped items before allowing them to eat it.
  • Costume Safety: Choose costumes that are bright and visible. Avoid long trailing fabric to reduce tripping hazards.
  • Use Face Paint: Face paint allows for better visibility compared to masks, reducing the risk of vision obstruction.
  • Visit Welcoming Homes: Only visit homes that are well-lit and welcoming to trick-or-treaters. Avoid houses that are dark or undecorated.
  • Street Safety: Remind children to look both ways before crossing the street and to use sidewalks whenever possible. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic.
  • Supervision: Always supervise young children and consider trick-or-treating in groups for added safety.

The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP wishes everyone a safe and happy Halloween!
