Fort Saskatchewan RCMP investigate recent theft from vehicles

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP GIS is investigating after a theft from a motor vehicle complaint in the area of Wellington Place on October 22, 2024.

Local good Samaritans contributed significantly to furthering the investigation after recognizing a social media post of the incident and coming forward with key information that identified the suspect and suspect vehicle.

37-year-old Hayleigh Patricia Whitman, of Edmonton was charged with Theft from Motor Vehicle and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. Whitman was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and has been released from custody pending her first appearance in court.

The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP would like to thank the community for its cooperation in this matter and remind the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity when witnessed.

Background:

On Oct. 23, 2024, the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP reported a theft from a vehicle that had occurred overnight in the Wellington Place area. CCTV footage captured the suspect or suspects in the area about 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 and are believed to be associated with a black 2005 single-cab Dodge half-ton truck with the following features: black steel rims, chrome door handles, box rails and a gas cover.

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP believe there may have been more thefts in the area around the same time and are asking residents to check their door cameras or surveillance cameras for any suspicious activity.
