24/7 ankle monitors for some convicted Albertans are now mandatory

24/7 ankle monitors were being questioned as a solution for Alberta’s catch-and-release bail system. As of last Wednesday, offenders and accused who are high-risk may be subject to court-ordered 24/7 ankle monitors. These monitors will have advanced GPS systems to help keep offenders away from secure areas such as homes and places of employment.
