Fire at the Telus World of Science caused by HVAC system

A small fire at the Telus World of Science caused the building to temporarily close last week. The fire was being investigated and the cause was an issue with an HVAC system. No one was harmed and the fire didn’t do any significant damage but 45 per cent of the building was filled with smoke which lead to delays in reopening. Nearly 1,000 guests and staff were evacuated.

Unfortunately, the new feature exhibit “amazing pollinators” that was set to open last weekend has been cancelled. Crews are at the building 16 hours a day to deep clean and get rid of all the smoke residue. The centre is expected to reopen sometime next week but the main hall won’t have an exhibition for several months.
