Edmontonian says he was denied access on LRT because of his service dog

This past Thursday, 20-year-old Riley Fuchs said he was denied access on public transit because of his service dog. Indie the German Shepard assists Riley with severe PTSD and anxiety. “She [Indie] helps me by alerting before things get bad and helping me calm back down so I can function.” Fuchs said that he waiting for the Valley LRT with Indie at the Millbourne/Woodvale stop. He said when the LRT arrived, the driver stated dogs weren’t allowed and refused to open the door.

Edmonton Transit looked into the situation and reported that the LRT in question was not in service, which the operator announced to all passengers waiting at the platform. The next in-service train arrived shortly after.
