Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, had a phone call yesterday with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding both the U.S. tariffs and Canada’s counter tariffs. They were able to come to an agreement, and the tariffs will be on hold for at least 30 days. In a social media post, Trudeau said that Canada is implementing a $1.3-billion plan to strengthen the border and appoint a “fentanyl czar.” Trudeau also stated that the pause will last a month at the minimum “while we work together.”
The U.S. and Canada are also launching a joint strike force to combat fentanyl, money laundering, and organized crime.
