Submissions open for 2024 River Valley Alliance calendar

The River Valley Alliance wants to see your photograph in their calendar.

The alliance have opened submissions for their 2024 calendar, which features photos of the river valley from Parkland County, Devon, Edmonton, Strathcona County, Sturgeon County, and Fort Saskatchewan.

“It’s really a chance to celebrate local talent,” said Makennah Walker with the alliance. “We have everybody from amateurs to professional photographers that submit their work.”

“It’s an opportunity to share the passion for the river valley and taking pictures.”

They’re looking for photos in various seasons, and specifically ones that showcase their local projects, from Lamoureux Trail to the Legs of Fire Stairs.

Photos must be RBG formatted JPG files in high resolution with no identifiable people in the photos.

Images must also be in landscape orientation and be cropped for an 8.5 by 11-inch calendar page, which is an aspect ratio of 4:3.

“We get a lot of people submitting vertical portrait photos, which doesn’t work for cropping.”

You don’t need a fancy DSLR to submit your photos, Walker added that most newer models of cell phones take photos of high enough quality.

Applications end on October 15, with those whose photographs have been chosen being notified by October 25. All selected photographers will receive a free copy of the calendar.

You may submit several photographs for the calendar, but only one photograph per photographer will be chosen.

You can submit your photo to makennah.walker@rivervalley.ab.ca with the subject line Calendar Submission.
