Edmonton police arrest man for murder outside shelter

A 31-year-old man has been charged in relation to a homicide in downtown Edmonton over the weekend.

On Sunday (Oct. 1) Edmonton Police Service (EPS) responded to reports of an injured man outside the Hope Mission shelter in the area of 105A Avenue and 100 Street.

Paramedics transported the 39-year-old injured man to hospital where he died of his injuries. An autopsy from the Edmonton Medical Examiner found that the man had died from a stab wound to the chest.

On Tuesday afternoon, EPS arrested Theodor Fiddler and charged him with second degree murder in relation to Phillips’ death.

Fiddler’s court date was not released.
