Fort Saskatchewan school evacuated

An elementary school in Fort Saskatchewan has been evacuated.

On Thursday (Oct. 19) morning, residents noticed the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department and EMS outside of James Mowat Elementary School.

According to a release sent out by the school, the school was evacuated due to the carbon monoxide detectors in the school going off.

Emergency personnel are at the school investigating the cause of the detectors going off.

According to the school, all staff and students had been evacuated to St. John XXIII Catholic School for the time being.

The school asks that parents do not come to St. John XXIII or James Mowat during this time.
