Howlleen Manor returning to Fort Saskatchewan

A staple of Fort Saskatchewan’s Halloween celebrations returns next week.

Howlleen Manor opens to the public on October 27 and runs until Halloween night.

“We usually start set up at the beginning of September. A lot of stuff takes time,” said Don Lawrence, who has been building Howlleen Manor for years. “Building the walls, setting the wiring, getting sounds and video and making sure everything works just right.”

“We’re pretty much always going until the night of.”

The manor is open from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Admission is free, but the manor gladly accepts cash donations, or food donations to the food bank.

Sunday is kids day at the manor, open from 12 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. and features the same haunted house but without the scares to offer a less terrifying halloween experience.

As for Halloween night, the manor is open from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. but due to the high traffic, the haunted house will cost $5 per person.

“A lot of this stuff stems when I was kid,” added Lawrence. “When we were out trick or treating, the houses we remember had the full-sized chocolate bars, or were fully decorated, so that’s what appealed to me.”

All proceeds from Howlleen Manor goes towards the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank.

Howlleen Manor is located at 8413 99 Avenue in Fort Saskatchewan.
