Strathcona County gets new multi-sport courts

Two new sport courts have come to Strathcona County.

These courts are located at South Cooking Lake, with the August 19 grand opening coinciding with the annual Trail Day’s celebration.

The courts, which were made off a budget of $450,000, include a pickleball and basketball court. The project was identified in the Strathcona County Recreation and Culture Strategy.

$337,500 of the funding was brought in by the federal government through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund.

“The need for recreation and culture in Strathcona County is diverse,” said Rod Frank, mayor of Strathcona County. “I am pleased that the community of South Cooking Lake has gained two more amenities that enhance resident’s accessibility to outdoor recreation opportunities.”

South Cooking Lake is a hamlet located 19 kilometres southeast of Sherwood Park.
