Elk Island Public Schools [EIPS] and Elk Island Catholic Schools [EICS] have each issued cancellations for Monday morning’s bus trip to school. Each board has left open the possibility that the afternoon trip will be cancelled, as well.
EICS decided to cancel both the morning and afternoon trip for students in the Camrose area only. EICS has cancelled the morning trips for school buses in Fort Saskatchewan, Sherwood Park, Strathcona County, and Vegreville.
“A decision on afternoon bussing in these communities will be announced by early Monday afternoon,” an email from EICS said.
EIPS says they will send an update about whether the afternoon trip from school to home will occur by noon Monday, based upon the forecast temperature and wind chill values between the hours of 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Both school boards will open schools with classes proceeding as scheduled.
