Redwater RCMP locate wanted man

Redwater RCMP executed a search warrant on Tuesday (Jan. 23) that led to the arrest of a wanted man.

At around noon, police executed a search warrant at a rural home in Thorhild County following an investigation into an aggravated assault back in July.

When police arrived, they discovered the suspect in a stolen vehicle. As police made contact, the suspect fled the scene. RCMP followed the suspect before disabling the vehicle and arresting the suspect.

Police say that no injuries were reported during the incident.

The investigation led to Justin McKinney, a 31-year-old resident of Fawcett, Alberta, being arrested on multiple warrants. McKinney was charged with:

  • Fraudulently taking property (x2);
  • Failing to stop for peace officer;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime; and
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

McKinney remains in custody and will be appearing at a Fort Saskatchewan court on Thursday.
