Edmonton Police Charge Man With Second Degree Murder in September Slaying of Senior Citizen

Edmonton Police Service say they have charged 44-year-old Nicholas Brashko with second degree murder, arson, and indignity to a body in relation to the September killing of 69-year-old Fred Kolybaba.

The victim was found in a home near 132 Street and 133 Avenue on September 1, 2023 by Edmonton Fire Rescue Services.

Last week, EPS said they were on the lookout for Brashko and released his image and a description. On Monday, police thanked the public for the tips on Brashko’s whereabouts, having successfully arrested the individual on Sunday.
