New buses coming to Strathcona County

Strathcona County Transit will be getting some new buses to join their fleet.

This comes as the federal government announced that they’d be investing over $9 million in funding for six transit projects in the county.

These projects include:

  • Installing around 200 bus stop pads
  • Purchasing six double decker buses
  • Purchasing 10 regular passenger buses
  • Purchasing nine eight-passenger mobility transit buses to replace the current aging vehicles

The county will also be adding in new sidewalk links and implementing a workforce management software for operators.

The county has also invested $12 million for the six projects, which should be rolling out over the next three years.

The funding for this project was approved on February 2.
