St. Albert students create mural for Sturgeon Hospital

Students in St. Albert have been working on a beautiful mural that will be placed in the Sturgeon Hospital.

This four-panel mural is being made by Grade 4 students at Muriel Martin Elementary School, and Grade 11 art students at Bellerose Composite High School.

The project began as an art teacher at Bellerose got in touch with a nurse at Sturgeon Hospital. They decided to start a project to help lift patients’ spirits.

The mural’s theme is “sheep in a meadow”, which uses vibrant colours and fantasy imagery. The rough draft was created by the high school students, while the elementary students add the finishing touches.

The mural is expected to be finished by the end of February, with an official unveiling at Sturgeon Hospital at some point before the summer.
