Edmonton City Hall opens for reporters since shooting

Edmonton’s City Hall has opened back for reporters four weeks after a shooting locked the place down.

Reporters were allowed back inside City Hall starting on Wednesday (Feb. 20), but according to city management, it may be a few more weeks before it opens back up to the public.

The lockdown was caused by a shooting back in January, where a man entered the building, fired a gun, and threw a Molotov cocktail. The suspect was apprehended by security, and nobody was injured during the shooting.

Since city hall went on lockdown a few employees have returned to their offices, but city committees have been going on virtually.

Bezhani Sarvar, the suspect, has been charged with arson, caresless use a firearm, and other charges.
