ALERT Issues Child Sexual Exploitation Charges Against Edmonton, Leduc Youth Worker

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s Internet Child Exploitation unit has accused a man who once worked as a youth worker in Edmonton, Leduc, and Saskatchewan with child sexual exploitation offences and is investigating whether there are additional victims yet to come forward.

On February 2, with assistance from Edmonton Police Service, ALERT’s ICE unit arrested 28-year-old Abraham Woo. He was charged with child luring, making child pornography, possession of child pornography, and distributing child pornography.

Police say Woo lured a child he knew through his employment with Pasqua First Nation in Southern Saskatchewan. Police say the offences they accuse Woo of happened on social media sites Snapchat and Facebook. These incidents were reported to Saskatchewan ICE in January through an investigation by Fort Qu’Appelle Saskatchewan RCMP, a media release on Thursday said.

Woo has also been known to use the aliases Abraham Calling Bear Woo, Abraham Collingwood, and his Snapchat handle WolfBoy22, police say.

The ICE investigation included a forensic examination of electronic devices seized from Woo’s home. Police now believe there may be other victims. Police released censored images that appear to have been taken in a locker room.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact their local police detachment or dial Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-8477.

Woo has released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, February 28.
