Edmonton Police Service Continue Probing Parkade Suspicious Death

Edmonton Police Service homicide detective continue to probe a suspicious death at a downtown parking garage.

Police say the autopsy on the body of a 58-year-old security guard was completed Thursday morning. He was discovered in medical distress on Tuesday at about 5:50 a.m. following a fight with a 30-year-old suspect. Police believe that the suspect was breaking into vehicles within the parkade located at 101 Street and 102 Avenue.

“Further testing is required to conclusively determine the cause and manner of death. The circumstances are still being treated as suspicious,” police said in a media release.

Police have withheld the name of the guard “until the manner of death is officially determined,” police said.

The suspect has been taken into custody in relation to the alleged vehicle break-ins, and police say charges are pending.

“Homicide detectives continue to actively investigate the circumstances leading up to the 58-year-old man’s death.”

The Edmonton Journal reports the guard was employed by GardaWorld security, stationed at HSBC Place.
