St. Albert is getting a performance from The Irish Descendants later this week.
The band will be performing at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at the Arden Theatre in St. Albert Place.
The Irish Descendants are a Newfoundland based Celtic and folk group that has been performing east-coast music across Canada since the early 1990s.
Born from Irish immigrants, all the band members worked in the fishing industry while performing under two bands, The Descendants and Irish Coffee. They decided to bring the two bands together, and The Irish Descendants was born.
Since forming the band has released several albums, winning a JUNO Award, an East Coast Music Award, and even performing for Queen Elizabeth II on the 500th anniversary celebrations of Newfoundland.
The Irish Descendants will be bringing their unique blend of traditional and contemporary Irish and Scottish songs that emphasize vocal harmonies and acoustic instruments.
Tickets for the show are no longer available on the City of St. Albert website, as the show has been sold out. Tickets initially costed just shy of $60.
