Local musicians receive Country Music Alberta Awards

Some local musicians took home awards at the annual Alberta country music awards show.

The show was held on March 10 at the Edmonton Convention Centre, with St. Albert musician Hailey Benedict taking home three awards.

The awards she won included Horizon Female Artist of the Year, Interactive Artist of the Year, and Horizon Single of the Year.

Benedict was also one of the performers at the show, alongside Kyle McKearney, Tommy Charles, and other local country musicians.

Another St. Albert musician Aaron Goodvin also took home two awards. One was for Male Artist of the Year, and the other was for Single of the Year. Just the night before the show, Goodvin was in Wichita performing a concert.

A third St. Albert songwriter, Dan Davidson, was at the show. However, instead of winning an award, Davidson presented the Roots Artist of the Year to McKearney.

You can see a list of all the winners on the Country Music Alberta website.

Davidson and Benedict will be performing in Fort Saskatchewan on Wednesday evening as part of the Heartstrings and Honky Tonks show at the Dow Centennial Centre.

Appearing alongside Benedict and Davidson is Danny Hooper, Clayton Bellamy, and special guest Donny Lee.

Tickets are still available for the show, available on Ticketpro.
