EMS vehicle hits police officer and injured citizen, launching investigation

Edmonton police are investigating an incident where an Emergency Services vehicle ran two people while responding to reports of a woman in distress.

At around 2 a.m. on Sunday, police were on the scene of a woman in medical distress at a parking lot near 101 Street and 82 Avenue.

As an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) SUV arrived on the scene and was driving around the police vehicle, the SUV ended up running over the woman and a police officer.

Both the 25-year-old woman and the officer were taken to hospital where they’re facing non-life-threatening injuries.

Due to the crash, Edmonton police’s Major Collision Investigations Section has begun an investigation into the incident, asking anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch.
