Fire Ban issued for Lamont County: ATVs prohibited

Lamont County issued a fire ban on Tuesday afternoon.

Effective at 2:30 p.m., the fire ban was put in place due to extreme fire hazard conditions in the region. The fire ban also affects Bruderheim, Lamont, Mundare, Andrew, and Chipman.

There’s also a new restriction in the ban prohibiting the use of off-highway vehicles such as quads and dirt bikes. This includes on municipal property, highways, permitted use areas, or any trails in the county.

There are also the usual restrictions: campfires, fireworks, exploding targets, charcoal barbecues, burn barrels, and any other type of outside burning. However, propane barbecues and ULC-approved propane-fueled fire pits are still permitted.

You can keep up with fire advisories, restrictions, and bans in the area by visiting the Alberta Fire Bans website.
