Strathcona County hosting annual tourism conference

Strathcona County’s annual tourism industry conference is going on this week.

The event takes place on Wednesday at the Ardrossan Recreation Complex, with the event featuring hundreds of local businesses and organizations being brought together to learn about being more effective in attracting visitors.

“Strathcona County completed a tourism strategy in 2020 and a subsequent product development plan in 2022 to help businesses develop and offer tourism experiences to visitors,” wrote the county on the conference’s Eventbrite page. “If developed effectively, tourism has the potential to have a significant diversifying effect on the economic base of Strathcona County.”

The event will also feature guest speakers with a wealth of knowledge, who will be sharing insights on working within the visitor economy, with the keynote speaker being Geoff Stewart, owner of Rig Hand Distillery.

Tickets to the conference includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day, with tickets still available on the Eventbrite page.

The show is running from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
