EPS have arrested the suspect involved in a drug bust worth close to $1 million. Troy Edwin Kaurin was apprehended on Tuesday at a south-side Edmonton hotel where he had been staying.
At the time of his arrest, Kaurin was in possession of more illegal drugs, firearms, and money including:
- 2 handguns
- 559 grams of methamphetamine (street value of $5,590)
- 106 grams of fentanyl (street value of $25,000)
- 3.8 grams of crack cocaine (street value of $180)
- 9 grams of a buffing agent
- $6,560 in Canadian currency
Kaurin is now facing 13 new drug trafficking, stolen property and firearm-related charges, in addition to the 28 charges he was facing after the bust.
None of the allegations have been tested in court.
In early 2024, Kaurin was released into the community on bail stemming from previous firearms offences. He is bound by multiple indefinite prohibitions ordering him not to possess firearms.
